September was National Suicide Prevention Month. On Friday, September 29th, students in grades 6-12 heard presentations from NAMI (National Alliance for Mental Illness). Among the topics discussed were symptoms of depression, early intervention, stigma, and resources for help. Middle schoolers received information to give to parents. Grades 9-12 parents will be emailed the information.

September is National Suicide Prevention Month. Gettysburg MS/HS is excited to announce that NAMI (National Alliance for Mental Illness) will be presenting educational sessions on mental health and mental health conditions to students in grades 6 through 12 on Friday, September 27th. Each grade will have its' own 50 minute session. A parent handout for youth to take home to their families will be given to each student. See the attached letter for further information!

3rd Graders visited The Hansen Cafe on Wednesday to sample some chapter books and expose themselves to some new series. 4 Tables were set up with several series that students were able to explore before quietly heading to the next table for their next course. 14 new books were checked out that afternoon! Excited to see where this takes their reading!

3rd Graders in Mrs. Hansen's class have been observing Tenebrio Life Cycles and the process of metamorphosis that they go through to turn into Darkling Beetles. Students were surprised on Day 22 with some pupas transitioning to the adult form!

We are excited to offer a local transition event for our students with disabilities, and their families. Our surrounding communities and schools are welcome and encouraged to attend. This event is sponsored by the Gettysburg School District and South Dakota Parent Connection. It will be offered to students grade 8 through students in our 18-21 program.
