More pictures of all of the 'fun in fifth' this week.

5th grade had a busy week! We started the week off with the 3rd-5th field trip to Pierre to tour the state Capitol building. Wednesday we had our science fair showcase, and a guest speaker, Peter Hall, who shared his Lakota & Dakota heritage, and taught us about native agriculture. On Friday, we ended the week with the K-5th field day!

The 2nd grade class visited the community garden yesterday afternoon. While they were there they got to listen to some books about plants and they each got to plant their own plant. They also each received a new book to take home about fruits and vegetables.

Don't forget to join us tomorrow, May 8th, to celebrate our student athletes! Thank you to the Booster Club for providing a meal! Meal at 6, then an inspirational message from Holly Hoffman and awards at 7pm.

The Class of 2026’s top 1 percent of graduating seniors were recognized recently at the 36th Annual Academic Excellence Recognition luncheon for their academic achievements throughout their high school career. Congratulations to Peyton Stevens, pictured with Lieutenant Governor Tony Venhuizen.

Today our middle school students took part in a thoughtful and engaging debate for Law Day.
Brooke Brown presented students with an important question, Should the government ban Social Media use among adolescents?
One team argued in favor, one team argued against, and both groups had the opportunity to rebut each other’s points. Our students did an outstanding job building strong arguments and thinking critically as they defended their positions.
Thank you to Brooke Brown for bringing Law Day to our school and giving our students the opportunity to tackle such a timely and meaningful topic!

Please respond to the survey below to show that your child would attend 6 sessions of free band lessons at Gettysburg School District throughout the summer. To offer the lessons, we need enough interest. The lessons would be provided by Mr. Kerry Freidel, who has been assisting our band instructor this spring. The goal is to have the students ready for the 2026-2027 school year. If you have multiple children, please complete one survey for each child. The dates are June 5, 12, 19, 26 and July 24, 31. 🔥 Battler of the Week 🔥
This week we’re recognizing Layla Cronin 👏
Layla has been putting in the work at practice and it showed in a big way this week 💥
• Opened the 4x800 with a PR 800
• Took 🥇 in the 1600 at the YTC meet
• Hit a PR in the 300H
• Stepped up on multiple relays for her team
Layla shows what it means to be a hard working, team first athlete who is always ready to do whatever is needed.
Proud of you, Layla! Keep stacking those wins 💪❤️🖤

For Pig Project parents and students:
Tomorrow is our first clean up day at the pig lot at 3pm. I hope I’m avoiding any church/4-H events with this time and it should be pretty warm!
We will be replacing fencing on the west side of the lot. My classes have pulled the fencing on that side, so we will just have to add the new panels. Please bring shovels (spade shovels will work best), pliers, and hammers. Hopefully, it shouldn't take us too long with enough hands.
Thank you, and enjoy the weather this weekend!
