9th, 10th, and 11th graders heard a presentation on health-related careers today. Kathryn Haarstad and Rachael Wager, both from Avera, were the presenters. Information on numerous health-related career opportunities at Avera was shared as well as what careers have the greatest shortage of workers in South Dakota. Opportunities for job shadowing and part-time work were also shared.

Seniors listened to a presentation on the Build Dakota Scholarship Program today. Recipients of this scholarship can earn their SD Technical College Degree for free. The members of Oral Interp competed in Mobridge at the District competition yesterday. Gabby Goebel competed in Serious with her piece "I Love You Mommy" and is moving forward to Regions. Bobbi Eide competed in Non-Oratory with her piece "Best Day Ever" and is moving forward to Regions. Clare Cordell competed in Poetry with her piece "The Child Within Remembers" and is moving forward to Regions. Gabby Goebel and Jonathan Sasieta performed their duet piece "Fire Damage". Region Oral Interp will be held in Pierre on November 18th.

Good witch Marsha Osier kept her tradition of visiting the Kindergarten class today as a mystery reader. This is her 7th year visiting to read fun stories and she also brought goodie bags with delicious cookies and a Halloween pencil for each student. She read "The Little Old Lady who was not Afraid of Anything" and "Ten Timid Ghosts."
